Where to Buy Menthol Cigarettes in Canada (2026)

If you've searched this before, you already know how it usually goes: a page confirms menthols were banned in 2017, suggests a mint vape, and stops. That answer is incomplete.

Menthol cigarettes are still sold in Canada — on First Nations territory, where the flavoured-tobacco ban does not apply. That is the whole answer to "where," and everything below is the practical version of it: what's stocked, what it costs, and how it reaches you.

19+ only. Nicotine and tobacco products are for adults 19 and older. Nicotine is highly addictive.

The Three Places People Look — and What Each One Gets You

Convenience stores, gas stations and tobacconists

Nothing. The 2015–2017 flavoured-tobacco rules removed menthol from every regulated shelf in the country, and no province has reversed course. Asking behind the counter will not turn one up; the ban is on the sale, not on the display.

Duty-free and bringing them back from abroad

Legal in principle within your personal exemption, and a fair number of people do it when they're already crossing a border. As a way of actually keeping yourself supplied it does not work — the allowance is small, the trip is the cost, and you are limited to whatever the other country happens to stock.

On First Nations territory

This is where they are. The ban governs federally and provincially regulated commerce; a sale made on territory by a First Nations retailer under that nation's own authority sits outside it. Menthol cigarettes have remained on those shelves continuously since 2017. For the full explanation of why, see are menthol cigarettes banned in Canada.

Buying From Us

Healing Room Six Nations is an Indigenous-owned shop at 7147 Indian Line Rd, Ohsweken, on Six Nations of the Grand River territory, about 25 minutes from Brantford and 40 from Hamilton. There are two ways to get menthols from us.

1. Order online, shipped Canada-wide. Everything on the menthol shelf ships by Canada Post with age verification at delivery. Ontario and Quebec orders typically land in 1–2 business days, the Prairies and the Maritimes in 2–4, and B.C. and the North in 3–6. Packaging is discreet and unbranded.

2. Pick up at the counter. Order online and collect in Ohsweken, or just walk in.

Whichever you choose, someone 19 or older has to present valid government photo ID. Orders are never left unattended.

What Menthols Cost

The number that matters is per cigarette, because pack sizes differ. A carton here is 200.

Product	Format	Price	Per cigarette
Canadian Menthol	carton of 200	$17.25	8.6¢
Pop n Smoke Menthol	carton	$23.00	11.5¢
Pop n Smoke Menthol	single pack	$3.45	—
BB Menthol	carton	see product page	—

For comparison, a carton of mainstream cigarettes at an Ontario counter runs $90–$160 once federal excise, provincial tobacco tax and HST are stacked on — and it will not be a menthol. The gap is not a promotion; no provincial tobacco tax applies to an on-territory sale, so the shelf price simply starts lower. The full breakdown is in how much a carton of cigarettes costs in Ontario.

If You Want the Flavour Without the Menthol Ban Story

Two adjacent things people often end up preferring:

• Canadian Crush — crush-ball cigarettes with a flavour capsule in the filter, in Cherry, Grape and Tropical Splash. $40.25 a carton.
• Mint and menthol nicotine pouches — never covered by the 2017 rules and available everywhere. $11.50 a can here. Start with the pouch strength guide if you're new to them.
